Who I Am and What I Do
My name is Red Mulvanny. I am a retired career military man who served 33 years on active duty. At Red's Wood Designs, using my small CNC machine in my garage workshop, I offer a variety of beautifully carved and finished 3D wood products. I also create other woodworking products including laser-engraved items. Check out my selection today and find the perfect item for your family, friends and loved ones.
You have an option to choose wood species and finishes. Higher priced woods will increase your total price. I use a clear coat polyurethane finish almost all of my items. If you have a specific request, let me know and I'll see what I can do and get back to you right away.
I am just starting out, so most of the products you will see are "one of's". I have not built up my inventory at this time. The sizes for each product are listed, and I have the ability within the limits of my small machines to make larger carved and lasered items up to 18" by 18" for an additional cost. If an item that you wanted sells before you make your purchase, I can normally replicate it. Send me your thoughts and I'll send you a quote.
You may notice that the majority of my 3D carvings have a military vibe, but I plan to expand into other areas too including holidays, nature and other subject areas. I will continue to add new products to the page as I complete them.
3D woodcarving is a very labor-intensive process. Some of the products you'll see, took over 15 hours to carve, and that does not include milling the raw lumber nor the finishing time. I base my prices on the time it takes to produce an item and the cost of the raw materials (wood, stains, finishes, sandpaper etc).
I have recently added my wooden pen line to the webpage. These pens are made from various species of domestic and exotic woods and include a gift/presentation box with each purchase. Hardware choices are gold and chrome. All of these twist pens use a Cross-type pen refill that's available at most stores. Due to the labor and materials involved, the laminated pens, are priced a bit higher than the single wood varieties. If you have a specific wood request let me know and I'll let you know if I can make it.
I've also added a line of wood-turned wine stoppers. Take a look and maybe you will find just the right gift idea for that someone special.
I will be adding more items in the future as well.
